The article is dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the birth of Oleksandr Hryhorovych Nakonechny, the outstanding Ukrainian scientist, mathematician and teacher, professor at the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv. His life and professional path are outlined. The article highlights his academic career, scientific and pedagogical activities, as well as his significant contribution to the development of mathematics education and science in Ukraine, in particular, in the systems analysis, decision-making theory, stochastic processes with uncertainty. The main attention is paid to the review of the fundamental scientific results of O. G. Nakonechny. A list of selected scientific works of the jubilee is provided.
